Re: Home Schooling?

Home School pros:
1. You set your own pace for your child. If your child is
excelling, there is no reason not to move on to more
challenging material.
2. You set you own schedule. Since you are teaching one on
one, you can get the material covered alot faster. You can
sleep in late or you can get up early and finish "school"
around lunch time.
3. You know what your child is learning.
4. You can go on a spur of the moment field trip to
reinforce your lesson.
5. I am sure there are others, but these are the ones I
thought of this morning.
Private School pros:
1. Your child will have the benefit of smaller classes.
2. You will have more opportunities to be involved in their
classes.
3. Your child will have social opportunities every day.
4. Your child will have a qualified teacher.
5. The other benefits depend on the school, for example, if
you choose a Christian school, the benefit would be that
your child would have great exposure to scripture and build
a spiritual foundation. IF you choose a college prep
school, your child will be learning at a faster rate than
the public schools, and will be gaining a mind set geared
for college. Etc. Ofcourse, both of these two benefits
could also be gained through home school.
The biggest difference is the social atmosphere. But if you
are a determined home schooler, you can get into all kinds
of activities with other home school parents.
Good luck on your decision.
