Although they do require educated, skillful teachers, often with masters degrees. Some parochial schools require state certification, some do not. In MD, if a school has a religious exemption, the state cannot require the teachers to be certified or have any qualifications at all. It's up to the religious organization to determine what qualifications they require. It is also up to the religious school to determine its own curriculum. Certification, even Highly Qualified certification is no guarantee that the teacher is any good. Lack of certification also does not mean that the teacher has no training, experience, or education.
