Not necessarily. In the Diocese of Austin, a teacher only has to
be "qualified,", not "state certified." It means you must have a 4 year
college degree and "show competence" in your subjects(s). The school is
accredited by the Texas Education Association and the Texas Catholic
Conference. It is a rip-off to parents who assume they're getting real
teachers because there are some who never taught before or had teacher
training. And, it's terribly unfair to real state certified teachers
who get paid the same as these people.
