Re: Home Schooling?

Actually, it depends on the private school so to assume that all
private school teachers are unqualified is mis-informed. Where I
teach, ALL of our teachers have at least a Masters degree. They
either have a bachelors in their subject and Masters in Ed or a
bachelors in Ed and a masters in their subject. We must take
extensive training year round and in the summer. They don't even
look at applicants that don't come from competitive Universities and
you are required to have a minimium of two years teaching experience
in the exact age level and subject they teach, but usually no one
with less than 10 years experience is hired. I have coworkers with
Phds, EdDs and that are published experts in their field. Most of us
have higher quailifications than the local Universities. Yes, there
are a few " fly by night" private schools in the area where the
teachers don't have much to offer, but around here the bulk of the
private schools have the best teachers. Also, private schools that
have accredidations( SACS,etc) have specific rules on who they can
hire. They are often more specific than that at our state level.
Additionally, we make more than the local public school, have less "
admin" to do and easier kids to work with and involved, educated,
caring parents. So please be better informed before making such
general statements.
