Re: To Misinformed

I haven't posted on this thread before but my school sounds a lot like the
school described by "Misinformed"
I have just been hired on at a Catholic school in the Midwest (in a major
city with an urban population). I am a first year teacher but have come
out of a highly competitive University Masters program. At my first
interview, the principal told me that the majority of their teachers have
Masters degrees and many are continuing to take Masters and PhD level
courses at local universities.
Yes, the pay is less but the goal is to be at 90% of what teachers make at
the public schools in the district within the next 2 years. I am more
excited about working with the awesome staff and smaller classes (only
17-25 students!) than upset about making a bit less money. In my state,
elementary and middle school teachers in Catholic schools MUST be licensed
- it is not a matter of merely having a pulse!
