Re: dealing with parents who are pains
Posted by: middle school teacher on 5/16/09

I'm afraid there is no front end way to handle it. Helcopter
parents have their whole self-worth tied to the success of
their child. They are also frightened that somehow the world
will conspire to steal this success from their child and,
therefore, them. It is not normal parenting, not just being a
concerned and loving mother. It is unfortunately on the rise,
especially with the advent of online gradebooks. These
parents are often manipulative, know how to be heard in
administrative offices, and have discovered that principals
will give them their way just to make them disappear. It's
the end of the year. Hang on. Chances are you won't have
one this bad next year-but there are plenty of them out there.
