I agree with the previous advice.
Take the resigning choice. It is a proactive stance on your
part. I had this very experience just this year, I have taught
for over 15 years...so I was surprised I wasn't renewed.
Even though I wasn't renewed... my administrator offered that I
resign and that the school HE would offer a positive job
recommendation. If you think you can TRUST your administrator to
do as they saw, they go for it.
How I answer the question, why did you leave the other job?
I stated I resigned, that it wasn't a good fit. The former
school and I had differing philosophy of education.
It satisfied each interviewer. I had 4 schools call me.
I was offered the job at 2 different schools. It didn't appear
to harm my employability.
My former employer reassured me that he would only state my
strengths and that I wanted a change of teaching assignment. I
went from a mixed middle school 1/2 schedule and 1/2 high school
to wanting all middle school and that they couldn't offer that
schedule at this time.
Hope you remain positive in your job search. Whatever you do, DO
NOT TALK NEGATIVELY about your former job! Emphasis that YOU
wanted a change (different schedule, closer to home, less a
commute, different age group, moving from private to public
school, etc.)
