Re: Ashford University- 1st class
Posted by Mike B on 11/15/07

Chris, you need to speak a bit more responsibly. For starters, the
topic was ASHFORD U, not Ashworth.

Secondly, Ashworth's degrees are not worthless. You're going too far
with that statement. The DETC is recognized by CHEA and is in good
standing with the Federal Government, as it has been for decades. And,
it's untrue that almost all "online schools" can achieve DETC
accreditation. That claim is false. The DETC does have strong
standards and they don't allow just anybody in.

Thirdly, plenty regionally accredited schools take DETC credits. Penn
Foster as you mentioned, happens to also be DETC accredited. Look it up.

Fourthly, SACS is an accreditor for the Southern region; Ashworth
never claimed to be accredited by them. Ashworth states very clearly
that they are Nationally accredited by the DETC. So, I'm not sure why
you wasted time calling SACS, or what you hoped to prove by posting
that you did. It was pointless.

Finally, I graduated from Ashworth and was able to take my credits
over to Southwestern College, which has been rated as a top ranked
College in the U.S. by several highly respected entities (Like U.S.
News and World). Southwestern is regionally accredited.

Regional accreditation is obviously more widely-accepted, but to say
National accreditation (DETC) is worthless is an statement that lacks
education or facts on the subject. Please stop.
