I have no dog in this fight, but I do object to people who say that
schools are "fully accredited" when they are not regionally
accredited. I decided to check myself. First I checked the Ashford
    site and found this:
    http://www.ashford.edu/info/accreditation.php

Which claims they are regionally accredited by the Higher Learning
Commission, a commission of the North Central Association of Colleges
and Schools. This is a bona fide regional accreditation agency.

So I went to the regional accreditation site to double check. The
attached link (very long) should show the page that says that Ashford
is regionally accredited. It is very interesting. It says:

    Ashford University* IA Accredited

*Name change: Mount St. Clare College to The Franciscan University
(12/5/02) to The Franciscan University of the Prairies (9/23/04).
Purchased by Ashford University in March 2005.

So, Ashford bought an accredited school in 2005 and currently has
their programs under that accreditation umbrella (buying accredited
schools is not unheard of...it increases the market value of a school
when it is for sale. My kids K-8 Christian School bought an accredited
7-12 school as a second campus). Ashford will have to get reaccredited
eventually...and I suspect it is not far off. In my region (WASC) it
is a major undertaking. I have been through several WASC accreditations.

Regional Accreditation Site and Info - Interesting!
