Lori and Judy,
It did take me a while to get used to the writing style, so I
definitely can relate to the way you both reacted to the book.
What I found, though, was that I became so engrossed in the
details of the story that I didn't notice the writing after a
while. I'm not saying this is a good thing, but that I did learn a
lot about the politics of the region in a different way from
reading about it in the newspaper, and I'm still feeling in awe of
what he's accomplished. (I didn't "get" the Christmas card
either.)
