Re: Marvin Marshall + Brad

I have finally seized the computer from my children and
will respond.
I did implement Marshall and so did the teacher across the
hall from me. WE found that we liked the reference points
it gave children, but didn't find it easy, as it requires
more thinking and personal response than a "systems"
approach.
You've mentioned some other great books, including Jan's,
which is always first on my list when talking to teachers
about behavior management.
I found the principles from Jan's book and the reference
points (levels) in Marshall's book to dovetail nicely.
However, it will take a real effort on the part of an
entire staff to implement non-system methods. I belong to
a yahoogroup still that talks a lot about Marshall. Kerry
Weisner is big in that group and she often posts here on
tnet on the discipline and management boards. Also,
Marshall contributed to the gazette quite a bit.
I don't know how much it will help, and let's remember
that I've been out of the classroom since Jan published
her book.
