I better jump on this before ALL my favorites are gone. I would
use Rylant for her sensory images, insight into characters, and
illustrations.
Bunting is wonderful for social content as Judy mentioned.
So...I will go with Patricia Polacco. I like using her because
of where her stories come from...life. I love to share with
students when writing about where our stories come from. I also
like to use her dialogue to show how she reveals characters
through dialogue.
Patricia also gives great detail.
I love how her stories connect to one another a great deal as
well.
Good luck with your assisgnment students...enjoy this, it is fun
to tackle.
