Well, y'all took the ones I was gonna say, but there are more!
I like Libba More Gray for her wonderful interesting use of
creative adjectives in My Mama Had A Dancing Heart and her
sensitive portrayal of segreation in Dear Willie Rudd. That
one always makes me cry.

I like Gary Paulsen because his writing matches his subject
matter. It's rough and tumble and no nonsense writing. His
style is very easy to identify, and the boys love to model it
in their writing.

I love John Scieszka and Marge Palatini for their puns, word
play, and parody. They show kids the fun they can have with
language and ideas.
