Hi Mae,
I'm teaching 3rd grade and love it. This year, I got a grant to do
a before school drama club and we put on a big musical. I loved
doing that. I would do that for my full-time job if only I could!
The kids are moving along and I worry/stress less about the big
test than I used to (that is, I worry less until I get my test
scores back!) I read and reread the cards and letters that talk
about the things that I do in my classroom that have NOTHING to do
with the big test and how much the parents and former students
remember those things, so I keep reminding myself how important
all those things are in the large scheme of life. Can't believe
how much you are accomplishing in your daily life with writing
professionally too, Mae. Congratulations!
This year, I read Focus by Schmoker and right now our principal is
having us read The Energy to Teach by Allington.
