Re: Looking for research supporting round robin reading

Hi,
I use "round robin reading" and have for 18 years! It is one
of the many things I do, but it is a skill that has to be taught.
I notice that my best readers follow along when it is not their
turn. The lower ones don't. I have the lower ones track with
their finger sometimes. I stop and switch readers mid-page. We
stop frequently to discuss for comprehension. I love teaching
this way as it is much more intimate and I have a very good sense
of their decoding, fluency and comprehension. My students also
score very high (in general) on standardized tests and I also
teach "Reading with Meaning" and Kathy Collins style in many
respects.
I think you will find this style of teaching is creeping back
because it was never gone. Just like phonics was considered "old
fashioned" during the prime whole language years, so will RRR gain
credibility once again.
