Re: How to teach independent/dependent clauses

I put a sentence containing a dependent clause on sentence strips.
Then, I cut them apart by words or word groups and have the
students put them in order. I ask the "dependent clause" people
to step aside, and see that the sentence is complete without the
clause, discussing also, that the dependent clause couldn't make
it on it's own.
