They may have wanted you to add more to the lesson. Have students find
CVC words in a story. Have students roll three dice, one dice has vowels
on it and the other two have consonants and make CVC words. Students
decide which are real words. Try to include different learning styles
into you lesson. Sing about CVC words etc.
