I worked at TT for only a few months a few years back as I had
a difference of opinion with how things were run but what I can
say was that Eric was truthful and stuck by the contract when
ever I brought issues up. I spent a few weeks re-negotiating
the contract until I was happy - I never accepted the original
contract so I never experienced the wonderful world of
deductions. I did call him a friend while I was there and
looking back, I only have good memories of his attitude,
professionalism and demeanor. He has a VERY TOUGH JOB all
things considered... most foreign teachers have issues so
things aren't one sided.
I know most foreigners (including myself) had a negative view
of general classroom conditions, "little emperor/empress" and
general working conditions but compared to the Chinese teachers
there, we were by far better off than they were. I know while I
was there I had a record of "complaints" which I laughed off as
"why did he ask me about the weather, the teacher can look
outside himself" aren't exactly what I consider complaints...
though TT took these kind of things far too seriously. It's a
business, not a public school so every dime counts. Generally,
both the students and other teachers were good.
I had a few surprises but that comes with the territory when
teaching abroad but generally, Eric took good care of me with
what authority and conditions he had to work under. I wouldn't
recommend TT English for a teacher though I wouldn't advise
against going there either, it depends on your attitude,
reasons for being there and your thirst for adventure. Aside
from my friendship with Eric, I didn't fit in the mold that TT
tried to squeeze me into, so I left.

ps: Eric, if you are reading this... I hope you don't have
nightmares about teachers in army jackets! hahahha
