Re: Round Robin Reading

I've seen more research supporting round robin than I have for guided reading by far. There is one major problem with round robin, and that is the counting of sentences. Let's see, I am the tenth so I will read the tenth sentence. Where is that sentence, oh, better practice that sentence. Oops, my turn to read. Didn't make any mistakes, oh oh what is my next sentence, better practice. It is better to pull names for students to read. Otherwise many students don't pay attention, and you don't get an accurate gage to how well they can read because of the practice. I do oral reading all the time and allow no one to ridicule another, and treat it as no problem when someone makes a mistake. I simply show how to sound out the word with everyone and we go on.
