	Re: Reading Recovery vs. LindaMood-Bell Posted by I vote for RR!!!!!!!! on 4/24/08 I didnt know how to really teach until I trained in Reading Recovery. I learned to really observe my students and watch every move they made. Reading Recovery is an amazing program. Reading Recovery is an acceleration program. Students are taught strategies. The same strategies that "good" readers use automatically like...looking at the picture to figure out unknown words or thinking about what will "sound right" in that sentence. There is a lot of word work done as well. There is also a lot of writing that takes place in a lesson. But it is the desired outcome for students to always think about meaning, meaning, and meaning. It is interesting for me to look at all the new program/texts and see how much of it teaches Reading Recovery strategies! Also, any of the well known educational speakers (dr. jean feldman & donna white) have all been reading recovery teachers at some point in their careers.
