Re: Reading Specialist at MS/HS level
Posted by Penny on 5/01/08

I teach a middle school reading intervention class. Initially the
placement is determined by the state test--the kids who failed get
put into my class. I also do reading assessments on students the
language arts teachers are concerned about. I get some special ed
kids--the ones taking the TAKS who failed or seem likely to fail.
I also get a lot of ELL students after they're exited from ESL
    classes.

My class takes the place of an elective. Generally I'm at the
bottom of regular ed--a step above special ed.
