I noticed that quite a few people read the "Telling b from
d" post after I put it up, so I figured I'd post the
approach that worked well for me when I needed to explain
what a vowel sound is.
I taught this to virtually every child I worked with. It's
more complicated than "a, e, i, o, u and sometimes y," but
it made more sense to them and was fun to teach as well.
