    I agree that it is pointless to argue with a 10 year old. What
    you should have said is something like: " Why yes, there are
    some people who don't believe or understand the theory of Global
    Warming and in our society we welcome divergent views. So far
    research has pointed to a correlation between human activity and
    global warming, I guess we'll have to wait and see what the
    sciencetist discover in years to come." I'm sure there were
    teachers telling Columbus that the world was not flat and trying
    to get him to believe what they did. It is not our job to teach
    kids what to think only how to think. Give the kid some credit
    for standing up for what they think is right - and get on with
    teaching. Just wait till that child gets in 7th grade and the
    teaching of Evolution starts - count your blessings.
