    abilities of young mice are intrinsic properties of certain
    stem cells that are suppressed by blood-born factors in older
    mice.

    Regeneration is much more complicated than minor wound
    healing, and it is not clear why mammals lose that ability as
    they age, while some other vertebrates do not.
