Re: IPS Introductory Physical Science Program
Posted by Waski_the_Squirrel on 5/17/08

IPS has a companion volume called Force Motion and Energy.
This is a 1-semester course on the missing concepts.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to complete both books in one
year. When I taught IPS, I tried out 2 different solutions:

    1. I cut back on the IPS portion. In that edition, they
recommended that I reach chapter 6, then switch to the other book.

    2. Since I was in a small school and was the only science
teacher, I recognized a lot of overlap between the first 6
chapters of IPS and concepts in my 8th grade Earth Science. I
then started putting those concepts in 8th grade and was
successfully able to complete the full sequence.

I prefer the second option, but for those in larger schools,
    it probably isn't possible.
