    Re: world's most uncreative teacher
Posted by teaCHEM - 2nd most uncreative teacher on 8/18/08

the tripanel foldable I use twice - 1. proton, neutron,
electron. have them add person credited for establishing its
existance mass charge atomic number def for proton mass number
def for neutron #p+ = # e- in neutral atom for electron with
example of determining each. location in atom

extra panel on the 'inside flap' is other definitions - isotope,
    synthetic, abundance

    2. acid/base/salt don't have this handy right now, but you know
the stuff you would include. Arrhenius def, B/L def, Lewis def,
examples, color in indicators, etc. Know the extra inside flap
    is for neutralization reaction.

I use the multi page foldable - where you line up sheets of
paper stacked on top of each other with the bottoms about 3/4
inch higher than the one below, then fold in the center as a
book for exam review. One tab for each unit of study, plus one
for things that don't fit anywhere. Use largest page for most
material in unit. Use smallest for basic must know facts that
    don't fit anywhere.

I may use a foldable in physics this year for a formula journal.
I found this idea on someones physics website. Where a formula
is given in words, with symbols, a description of when it is
used and an example. I thought I would use this with def of
velocity, def of acceleration, then the substitutions to find
distance when time is not given vf^2 = vi^2 +2ad and to find
time when v not given d = vit + 1/2 at^2. This would be four
things and I need to dig my book out to see how to do a four
fact foldable. haven't use thst yet.

I know half my AP chem students dig out the foldables they did
in general chemistry when we hit these topics.

    Hope this helps Z!
