    Post: ideas for accomm high school LD/ADHD students

    I work at a private, independent college prep school and
    have been asked to share examples of pre-teaching and
    forms of alternative assessments with high school math and
    science teachers that have students on a 504 Plan.

    My background is teaching elementary school special
    education in a public school setting for 14 years, so I'm
    having a hard time coming up with specific examples of
    these accommodations other than pre-teaching vocabulary
    and core concepts/topics in the upcoming lesson or for
    alternative assessments, giving verbal tests/quizzes or
    providing word banks for those with spelling issues. If
    any of you can share some examples of what you do to
    assess science skills in an alternative way and/or what
    you to do "pre-teach" then that would be great.

    I've been trying to find books or resources on
    accommodations at the middle/high school level, but I
    haven't been able to find anything that meets my needs.
    The students I work with are all high-fuctioning
    LD/ADHD/Anxiety students and most of what I find out there
    is for students that are performing way below their grade
    levels. I've also emailed many college Learning Resource
    Centers but none have replied to me, so I was hoping that
    I would be able to hear some ideas from secondary teachers
    on teachers.net. Any suggestions would be greatly
    appreciated!
