We made candy animal cell models. The objective were to
review cells structures and their functions but also for me
to model how to build a model.

Even my lowest kids did great. Prin walked in to ask me a
question and asked me what they were doing, they were so
engrossed (they knew they got to eat them after I graded
them on the spot..lol) so I ask him to ask them. So he did.

The responded so well. Most could name the organelles, their
jobs, where they lived in the cell and why they were
choosing what piece of candy for what organelle. (I had
purposefully stacked the deck and gave them a cup of candy
where there was really only one type of candy for each cell
organelle.)

It was so nice and relaxed. I didn't have to harp about
being on task or tone down the talking. They were so into
it, I could multi task and do some other things while they
were working.

They didn't even complain when I went over the instructions
for the plant cell model they are going to build at home.

If only every day could be like today.
