    i like your idea about prereading and using the pictures. I like
    to do a scavenger hunt at the beginning of the chapter to
    discover the vocabulary in context and learn some independent
    review skills. The science textbook is so dense that even
    students sho don't have EL or literacy issues have a hard time
    extracting the essential info sometimes.
