    Try not using those vocab words until they get the hang of
    the Punnett Squares. There are some good activites on science
    spot.net and Smith LIfe Science. Teach them PS first and let
    them get good at them. Then move on the the F1, etc, because
    then you can show it with the PS. They can and will get it.
    Even my lowest kids can master these.

    The vocab is really hard for 7th grade, but if you think you
    can stand the giggles, go over the root words (homo=same,
    hetero=different). Also, google Easter Egg genetics. A little
    investment of time and a few bucks (if you can find Easter
    Eggs), but it really works.
