    Re: Teaching Genetics/Punnett Squares
    Posted by: MegB on 10/22/09

I've been using the terms "purebred" and "hybrid" instead of
homo and hetero because thats what the Science book's terms
were. I also tried to using eye color as a trait to map out. I
used myself an example; I have brown eyes but my dad has blue
eyes. So I showed them how my mother's dominant trait beat my
father's recessive trait. Then I told them that my husband has
blue eyes and I mapped out the potential for my husband and I to
have blue eyed babies. That helped a little because the kids
became very interested in my potential child's eye color!

I looked up Easter Egg genetics and think thats a great idea,
and I'll keep my eyes open for Easter Eggs. Even if I have to
wait until next Easter I will make sure to stock up on eggs so I
can use them in the future. Thanks!
