Hello

Advice please!

When carrying out an experiment measuring the time taken for diffusion of HCl to occur through an agar block (made of agar, NaOH and cresol red indicator) - What trend are we hoping to see if I use different concentrations of acid : 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 0.8 and 1.0 M

Would really appreciate a fast response!

Deborah My guess for your experiment is that there will be a greater volume of the agar block that becomes neutralised with the higher concentration of acid. I am thinking that the cube should change from pink to yellow as the HCl reacts with the NaOH. Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate your advice.

The blocks of agar are all the same size/ volume. They will be made with 0.01M NaOH. The hydrochloric acid will be a range of concentrations up to 1.0 M. the blocks will be put into the diff concentrations and time taken for colour change in each concentration ...See More
