For 2nd graders to read (many are ready for chapter books in
2nd grade and many are not. It's a transitional year as far as
that is concerned):

Henry and Mudge/Pinky and Rex (super easy, short "chapter" books)
Nate the Great (fairly easy)
Junie B series (fairly easy)
Rip-Roaring Russell/Noisy Nora series (fairly easy)
Flat Stanley series (a bit harder)
Bailey School Kids series (fairly hard)
A-Z Mysteries
Herbie Jones series
Jigsaw Jones series

For you to read to them:

My Father's Dragon series
Judy Blume's "Fudge" series
Frindle
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The BFG
Stories from Wayside School
Because of Winn Dixie
Charlotte's Web
Trumpet of the Swan
