I just started working as a leave replacement for a second grade teacher. I'm brand new at this...have only been subbing since September. There are a few kids in the class who are reading at a level K (independent level). They don't want to read picture books because they think they're too "babyish". Chapter books like Magic Treehouse are too challenging. Do you have any suggestions? And do you think picture books are, in fact, too babyish?
