	Post: What to do with last month when kids are "done" Posted by ssteacher on 5/01/08 Hello! (Forward: We are in Texas and will give our TAKS test tomorrow...meaning we have taught all of our mandated curriculum already...we have 1 month left of school. Most teachers are done, but I don't work that way :)) So I want to keep my 8th grade SS classes busy for the rest of the year...but I want it to be meaningful. My department head (she's new at this) and I have come up with some ideas: 1. Teach a week on WWI, WWII, and Vietnam. Then have them get in groups to give a presentation of some sort with research. 2. Research a presidential candidate and follow along with the debates...etc. Give a presentation over why they believe in a certain candidate (These kiddos will either be re-electing this president or voting for a new one in 2012) What do you think?
