I had students create a poster illustrating the 5 pillars of
Islam, and they also had to create a travel brochure of life
on the Arabian Peninsula.

For West Africa, they had to draw a map and illustrate the
vegetation zones. They also drew in the key goods each area
had for trade.

In addition, we read the story of Sundiata the Lion King, and
they created a comic book.

If I teach social studies next year, I might have them create
a biographical poem of Mansa Musa's pilgrimage to Mecca and
why he and his pilgrimage were important.
