I think student-centered is a misnomer in many cases. Why do you
consider whatever it is you do to be student-centered but notes not
to be? In my view student-centered simply means inquiry based and
inquiry only works when a foundation of knowledge first exists.

I'd be interested to hear your interpretation as it might help clear
up some of the misconceptions on both side.

As far as the 3 years thing, that is far too vague. If you (or the
prof) are advocating a complete revamp in teaching style and format
every 3 years I'd disagree hugely. If you're advocating constant
updates to material and methods then I'd absolutely agree. My
lectures today look nothing like they did 2 years ago, let alone
when I started building them 6 years ago.
