    I substituted before I began my teaching contract. Here is
    some advice: you can't be ready for the content, but you can
    be ready for the class room management issues. You will be
    teaching multiple grades, so the content will be varied; unless
    you are long term substituting...then you will know ahead of
    time and can prepare.
    If you are still nervous, go a bit early in the morning, and
    see what you will be teaching for the day. Then go online and
    study up and read the appropriate section of the class text
    before they do. Then they will know you have game!
