Hi Pam. I just did a lesson this week w/ our after school
program on "la historia de chocolate". I covered the history
of chocolate from about 600 B.C. to present day, showed pics of
cacao trees, pods, nibs & powder. This really "wowed" the
students...especially following up on Halloween when they have
all had their share of chocolate! Then, we made a simple
version of Mexican Hot Chocolate. They really enjoyed the
lesson and although it was primarily in English it offered
great history & culture. You could easily do more Spanish
depending on your crowd. There were some great websites...one
with a time line.
