Re: Preterite and Present Tense in Same Chapter - advice?

I'm using the En Espaņol II book and U1E2 has preterite
irregulars along with some new present tense stem changers.
Although they learned all about stem changers last year and even
learned a little preterite, keeping the endings straight this
time has been hard for some of them. I did not like this etapa
at all - it had a lot of different vocabulary thrown in
(art/food/sports) and then the mixture of preterite and present.
It took us over 2 weeks to get through it and I told the kids
they could bring cookies tomorrow (test day) to celebrate. I've
noticed with En Espaņol that some etapas take forever and some
don't. I call the long ones, "The Etapas that Wouldn't Die".
On the bright side, they have the preterite irregulars down pat
and have done a marvelous job with those, so I can't complain.
Daniel - thanks for working on that "a" and "para" question for
me.
