I'm looking at the sentence "we didn't go to the beach yesterday." Would you use preterite or imperfect with that, and why?

Sra. R It is an isolated sentence on a worksheet. I didn't want to say it was preterite because technically the event never happened, so could we put it in preterite form? That is why I am confused.

Use preterite. The event was taken care of yesterday. The imperfect is used mainly to describe how events used to be. If the sentence was: we didn't go to the beach ...See More

Same question... I was wondering the same, because I would hope that no Spanish teacher would have a question like this!! Sorry, not trying to be mean, but really??????????????
