I have just inherited a couple of additional Spanish High School Courses. The school has older texts, and that won't be changing. I do have an option, however, to go with either Dime 1&2 or Realidades 1&2. I have taught from Dime and I could do that with my eyes shut. I don't love everything about that book, but it is visibly clear to me and I already have supplements made to fill any gaps. Realidades seems very cluttered, with random concepts thrown in at different times. I would really have to take a lot of time working with it, but that is what was used the last couple of years. Has anyone taught from either of these that could give some insight on which direction to go?

Fresh Spot on observation of Realidades. It's terrible. I've been teaching out of it for years and still am not comfortable with it.

CSwanson Thanks, I appreciate the response. I am so back and forth. Some of my colleagues switched from Dime to Realidades and said that after tweaking, adapting, and working with Realidades, I'd probably prefer it to Dime. But it will take work. Why aren't there some really good textbooks out there?

XGalindo My school uses books on IPad the only problem is often the books don't load or I have a few students who still do better with a hardcopy of a book and not the distraction of the IPad. I am looking to buy some used copies for the class to have as backup. Is there a tremendous difference between the 2009 version of Avancemos Spanish 2 and the 2012 co...See More

Daniel Hanson I would definitely pick "Dime" over "Realidades". I piloted Realidades Level 1 last year. After I graduated from high school in 1995, my old high school went from "Spanish for Mastery" to "Dime". It seemed pretty good at the time.

Regarding good textbooks, I feel like "Descubre" is the best...See More
