    Post: Need Advice

    Spec. Ed Asst.

    Posted on 11/03/09

I have been an instructional assistant with a local school
district for about 3 years. I have just accepted a position
to work with severely disabled children. I am very excited
about this new opportunity, however I am also a little
nervous. As a FT student/preservice teacher, I am hoping
this will give me the experience to determine if special
education is the right path for me. I have worked the past
three years in traditional classrooms, assisting students
who are below grade level. I welcome any assistance, tips,
suggestions, or strategies that you can offer me (the
assistant) in working with severely disabled students.
