While the article did not provide a lot of facts, there was
enough to suggest this mother probably didn't set out to
murder her son - very likely the son was upset at not having
access to his favorite reinforcers, which were probably at
home. Either way, this is a tragic incident because either
the mother totally lost it and killed her son, she killed him
in self-defense or she simply used too much force in an
attempt to restrain him. Regardless, it is a sad situation
and I agree that families with developmentally disabled
children need more support. wasub
