"Yes, teachers need to be trained, but they also need to be given
the optimum environment, curriculum and support they need. wasub"

When I first got into advocacy, I thought this was one area where I
really thought positive change could be made, quickly. I get
frustrated because I do know that, in most instances, it's not just
a lack of training, it's a major lack of support. That lack of
support leads to injuries to students and teachers, as well as
criminal charges against students and teachers. I really have come
to believe that if a teacher or para is going to be charged, so
should administrators and school boards, if only because they are
    complicit.

I'm also becoming weary and disillusioned... We no sooner get a
reauthorization, and start getting things "right", and it's time to
start all over again. Why can't common sense prevail, alongside of
letting teachers and paras actually do "their" (what they are
educated and trained for) jobs as opposed to what some knuckleheads
figure the job should look like? I see too many para's having to
actually teach, when they aren't trained or educated to do so
(literally see para's conducting classes). I see too many teachers
having to assist, rather than teach. There has to be a common sense
middle ground, that CAN be appropriate.
