Hi, I am in my 7th year of teaching sped (a mild-moderate resource room setting k-5) and my 4th year at my current assignment. There is a part of me that is just over teaching sped...the paperwork, the scheduling, the groups that kids don't want to come to (esp older kids), working with the same kids year after year, etc. and I am seriously contemplating a switch to a gen ed position. I have added a graduate certificate in early literacy. Has anyone made a switch from sped to gen ed? How did your administration react to this? Thanks!
Kattheteacher I don't know the format of your state, but in Illinois, Gen Ed and Self-Contained teachers have a much more "work" than Resource Teachers. I have never been a gen-ed teacher, however, I once held a position as a Self-Contained teacher and what I hated the most was the constant grading and tons of lessons plans for each grade that you teac...See More
