I am an Early Head Start teacher. I have a transitioning classroom of 3yr olds. I have one student that i am really concerned about. He won't participate in any activities. He doesn't interact with the other children. If they try to join him in play, he'll leave the area. It appears that he doesn't want any close contact with anyone. We serve 2 meals and 1 snack. He won't eat anything unless it's some type of cracker. He has a very extensive vocabulary for a 3 yr old. Also, he appears to hold his body, mostly his hands kind of stiff. Has anyone seen this type of behavior in a child and do you have any ideas on how to help him interact with his peers?
