Re: Older student teachers
Posted by MSR on 4/26/08

I have read most of Happyhiker's posts on proteacher.net as
well but I have to disagree with some of your opinions based
    on what was posted.

I have read everything she has written from April 7th, up
until yesterday so I did miss everything before then.

What I read indicated to me that Happyhiker has done
everything she possibly can to help this student teacher but
the woman will not listen to a word she says.

She also has contacted the woman's university supervisor and
brought up a number of issues dealing with the woman's lack
of regard for doing the job to the best of her ability. The
supervisor even agreed with some of the complaints and
admitted that there are issues. Most of this was said in a
subtle way because it would be unprofessional of the
supervisor to get into too much detail. These issues should
be brought up to the student teacher and really be between
    the two of them.

Happyhiker's principal also has supported her and agrees
that the student teacher has shown signs of not being too
dedicated. She has also commented to the university
    supervisor about this.

The student teacher is late to school 90% of the time, does
not follow orders, does not take constructive criticism,
leaves early, and parks in a handicapped spot even though
she is not authorized to do so. In short, when her so called
bosses tell her to turn left, she says "the heck with you"
    and turns right.

She also made a very unprofessional speech to the students,
I have not read back far enough for the details on that.

I never saw a single post that indicated that Happyhiker is
obese, is depressed, or does not like her hair. Who cares if
she does not like her hair, what difference does that make?
Maybe those posts were made before April 7th.

You have the right to your opinions on this matter, but this
is what I got out of the exchange.
