Re: My stomach is going crazy
Posted by Rodeo on 5/02/08

Yeah, generally when you are student teaching, you are supposed
to be learning from the master teacher so whatever they tell
you, you are supposed to agree with and then ask them what they
    think you should do.

On your next placement, don't focus on being right. Focus on
flattering your master teacher. Always tell them things like, I
love the way you have your classroom set up. Where do you buy
your posters? Did you buy all of those reading books? Where did
you get them? Did they cost you a fortune?

Give the master teacher a chance to show off and shine as often
as possible. The master teacher will love telling you about the
used bookstore where she gets bargain children's books for a
    dollar or whatever.

That should be day one. Everyday find ways to admire her. I know
this sounds stupid to you but seriously, do this. Tell her, the
children just love you. Is it hard to let go of them every year?
Do they come back to visit you?

Say things like, you know, they don't realize how much of your
life you give to them but I guess it is enough to know that you
have changed their lives for the better.

Always admire them, complement them, ask them questions that
show them you are learning from them. It is impossible to not
like someone who makes you feel like a star. The key to getting
a recommendation from your master teacher is really being liked
    by them.

But don't seem like you are kissing their feet just to get that
from them. It has to be sincere or appear sincere. Look for the
good things they do because when you are telling the truth it is
easier to look like you are telling the truth.

And never, never upstage them or correct them in front of the
    students.

I am going to guess that you did something(s) to really put the
teacher off. Can you think back to what it might have been?
