I'd want to know what interests them, what works best learning-style
wise for the students, and if there are any special needs or
accommodations that I should definitely know about. HOWEVER, that
should be done privately and kept confidential in a binder or other
communicative device.
My CT told me about a student who was a high-functioning, autistic
student who never spoke in class. It was just an off the cuff, by
the way, she doesn't speak, kind of thing. That's all I needed to
know to work with her. I didn't need a dissertation on her background.
The best way to introduce your ST is by letting him/her interact
with the students as early and often as possible to allow him/her to
get to know their names and personalities very quickly. That helps
build rapport and establish a great working relationship.
